"Asana (postures) brings steadiness, health
and lightness of limb. A steady and pleasant posture produces mental
equilibrium and prevents fickleness of mind. By practising them one
develops agility, balance, endurance and great vitality."
-BKS Iyengar, Light on Yoga
All classes teach the Iyengar method of Hatha
Yoga. This rigorous approach emphasizes a balance between strength and
flexibility, builds endurance, and develops self-awareness.
Every effort is made to accommodate everyone in the
class. Whether you're a beginner to doing yoga in South
Florida or have been practicing for
20 years, you're welcome at the Yoga Institute of Broward.
If you have never tried yoga before, please feel free to come in and
experience the Benefits of Yoga.
All of the yoga classes in Broward County are taught at Partners in
Healing Wellness Center in Cooper City. See
Directions for how to get there.
Students please note: every once in a
while I may have to cancel a class. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Class
Descriptions
Level I
You should enroll in this class if you have never taken a yoga class
or a class taught in the Iyengar yoga method. Basic principles,
vocabulary and concepts are introduced. This is fundamental
information and important to know in order to move to the next level
of yoga practice. Even very experienced students find that they learn
and work hard in beginner yoga classes. Poses are modified when necessary based on
individual student needs.
Time: 1.5 hours
General
These classes are for students that have
had Iyengar yoga experience and are familiar with basic alignment and
movement. These will be ideal classes for those who have practiced
before but not recently. Also for students that have a regular
practice and wish to explore more advanced poses.
Time: 1.5 hours
Level II / Intermediate Level
Students who have experience with the Iyengar Yoga method, the basic
standing poses and have had an introduction to Sarvangasana (shoulder
balance), and understand how they need to set up for the pose, should
enroll in these classes. At this level, students are expected to have
begun to practice regularly on their own. More advanced standing poses
are taught as well as introduction to back extensions and forward
extensions. When students are competent with Sarvangasana (shoulder
balance), Sirsasana (head balance) is introduced. Variations are
taught for students who need them.
Time: 1.5 hours
